Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to be awarded a perfect score of 10 during an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics instructor who was later Comaneci's coach who first came across Comaneci when she was just six years old. She first competed at the junior national championships of Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. In 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. At her first international event in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she took home three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she was overall junior champion. She won four gold and one silver medals in her senior debut international competition that took place in 1975. This was the first time she competed as a senior. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also became the first woman in history to dismount the bars in parallel with backwards double salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment industry as a performer as a figure skater. With her younger brother Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 at Chicago Illinois US. Carol's first job was in entertainment as a teenager. The path she took to success began when she joined her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating shows.
