April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons which ignited her passion for songwriting. In the seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. It sparked her interest in songwriting. At the age of 14, April devoted a great deal of time to writing song ideas and practicing her music. She began writing alongside her father in NY and LA shortly after. April began also to incorporate additional topics that were related to of her peers who are dealing in the area of peer pressure disabilities and even teen suicide in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart works in partnerships at popular cosmetics brand Ilia and also is an influencer in the lifestyle industry with her own growing following. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's part of her story, but that's not the entire story. Because of this, her Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her handicap, however it's not focused on her disability neither. The message is? The message is that we are more than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart has stated on video that she didn't want to be defined solely by her disability. She doesn't want to become an advocate for disabled people who only speaks about it. There are a variety of aspects to Lockhart. But it does not affect my everyday life. I still do all the things I normally would and have adapted to my disabilities. However, I also consider it to be a vital aspect of me. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she is an inspiration in this regard. However, she acknowledges going through periods of being uncomfortable with her body, at times, not being confident in wearing certain types of clothing which showed how much of her body. She can wear whatever she likes, and happily shares pictures of her in these outfits. It's all a process is the most important thing. I'm not certain that will ever be the end about self-love. This is a process, and I'm sure that you never reach your destination. I believe that it's really essential to surround yourself with people who are able to see and know your true heart.
